Jaye and Lorelei

Blaze glanced at her and nodded slightly. "Ya," he replied. "One of them." He sighed. "Thankfully though, she's not. Just late due to her stressing out over an assignment she had, but still." He looked down at his arms that suddenly had goosebumps on them. "I get chills thinking about it, cuz I know we're not ready for that yet."

"...you know, even if she was, you'd make an awesome dad." Lorelei murmured after a moment.

Blaze paused before he looked over at her. "You really think so?" he asked.

"I totally know so." The girl responded with a smile.

"You'd be a kick ass awesome one."

Blaze nodded slightly. "I guess," he mumbled. "But still, I'm glad she's not."

"Mm...but what if she was?" Lorelei blinked.

"What would you have done?"

Blaze sighed. "Stayed with her. Taken care of it," he replied. "I love her, Lorelei. There's very little I wouldn't do for her."

"And that's why you'd be a kick ass awesome dad." Lorelei grinned.

Blaze sighed and nodded slightly, smiling ever so faintly. "I guess," he replied. "And maybe some day I will be a father. Just not right now."

"Awesome." Lorelei beamed.

"I don't think I'm ever going to be a mom. Just not for me."

"You never know. You may end up being a mother," Blaze replied. "Same with-" He shuddered. "Abel."

Lorelei laughed lightly and shook her head.

'Oh hell no. If I end up a mother, that's the day the apocalypse starts." She trailed off faintly.

"I wouldn't be good at it any ways. Abel though...he's good at everything he tries to do, so he'll be an awesome one."

"I dunno, dad managed," Blaze mumbled. He shook his head. "I don't know how Abel does it. He's like, perfect."

"Oh yeah, Dad managed so well." Lorelei muttered.

"You can hardly stand him." She sighed softly and looked resigned at the mention of Abel.

"Yeah...how am I supposed to compare to his awesomeness? He fucking radiates it. I can't even hate him or get mad at him because he's so loveable. Damn it though, I want Mom to look at me like that like he looks at Abel...Mom said today that he wished me and you were more like Abel..."

Blaze sighed. "People say things when they're upset that they don't always mean," he said to her. "Everyone does it."

"But how the hell am I supposed to compare to Abel?" Lorelei replied.

"I don't even fucking compare."

Blaze shrugged. "I don't think you can," he replied. "All we can do is be the best we can be and hope that's enough."

Lorelei was quiet and her expression dull as she peered at the ground.

"Yeah...." She closed her eyes faintly.

"Sometimes...I wonder though...w- would Mom be happy if I disappeared one day?"

"Are you kidding?" Blaze asked. "He'd be fucking devastated. He may say things like this, but I'm a hundred percent sure that he loves us nonetheless."

Lorelei didn't seem entirely convinced.

"...you're not the only one left out, you know." She whispered softly.

"I- I don't remember the last time Mom did anything with me...a- and then he said what he said and it made me think so much. If it were just you and Abel, I think things would be so much better for you..."

"I doubt that," Blaze replied. "Sounds to me like you should sit down and talk to him about it."

"Like you talk with Dad?" Lorelei muttered.

"Like hell. I should, but I can't...I'm already enough of a nuisance. Don't need to pester Mom anymore than I do."

Blaze sighed. "If I talk to Dad, will you talk to Mom?" he asked.

Lorelei jerked faintly and then slowly gave a nod.

"It's only fair, right?"

"Exactly," Blaze replied, looking over at her. "So what do you say?"
