Gilbert Proposes!

Marco sat at his desk, sighing softly and rubbing his forehead as he went through some paperwork for his current patients. The small intercom on his desk beeped and the receptionist spoke. "Dr. Omally? Gilbert's here to see you," she said. Marco glanced at the intercom and sighed. He really didn't need to deal with him of all people at this time.
"Alright, send him in," he muttered, taking his glasses off and setting them aside as he rubbed his eyes with his thumb and index finger before looking up as the door opened.

Shifting awkwardly, Gilbert eventually peeked his head into the office. He looked uncharacteristically nervous, embarrassed, even an element of serious to his expression. Silver locks of hair lightly fell into his eyes and he slowly made his way into the room to stand in front of Marco's desk.

He shifted himself awkwardly, playing with his fingers before huffing.

"I need to ask you something...." Straight to the point, no small talk; this was incredibly important and no matter how awesome he was, Gilbert had no idea how he was going to go about this.

Marco frowned and folded his arms in front of him on the desk. "Okay," he replied slowly. "What is it?"

Gilbert flushed and glanced down, a slightly look of awkwardness against coming into his expression before he dug into his pocket and pulled out a little white leather ring case.

"I- I totally want to propose awesomely to Seneca!" He blurted, peering up at Marco with wide ruby eyes.

"B- but I have no idea how and you've already done this a- and I need help...please help..."

Marco stared at him for a few moments before he smiled. For once, he didn't have a snide remark towards the man. "Well, what kind of help are you looking for?" he asked and motioned to the comfy chair Gilbert stood beside. "Please, sit."

Gilbert sighed in relief and beamed, clearly pleased as he took a seat in the chair. He sighed again and played with the box in his fingers.

"I- I don't know...all the help I can get? I'm not good with flowery sentences and all that stuff..."

Marco smiled. "You don't need flowery sentences to propose, Gilbert," he replied. "Okay, first off. Where are you planning on proposing?" he asked.

"I- I don't know that yet." Gilbert muttered faintly.

"I don't know how to do any of this, Marco. Seriously, I've never thought about this before because I've never wanted to do something like this so badly before. Damn it, I don't know where to start at all..."

"Okay, well, think. What sort of things does Seneca find romantic?" Marco asked, leaning back in his chair.

"He's awesome." Gilbert muttered faintly.

"Anything would make him happy. B- but he likes the beach..." The albino murmured almost shyly.

"Okay, well, that's a good start," Marco replied. "So maybe you should take the weekend and spend it at a cottage on the beach?" he suggested. "That gives you privacy for what I know you'll end up doing. Plus it gives you the beach and the perfect setting to pop the question. Have you had any thought as to what time of day you want to ask it?"

"I- I have no idea. S- sunset maybe? That sounds awesome..." Gilbert replied, awkwardly shifting.

Marco nodded. "So, sunset on the beach. What else are you going to do to make that day more memorable?" he asked.

"I don't know..." Gilbert muttered, looking embarrassed.

"I don't have any idea of what I'm supposed to do..."

Marco was quiet, looking down at his desk and thinking. "Seneca's a book worm, right?" he asked. "Why not take him to an old book store? Or you could find a book binding class or something." He was quiet again. "Or maybe you could take him to a play or roam a museum with him? Roam the city at night with him and look at all the lights. You'd be amazed at home memorable that is."

Gilbert was quiet for a moment and bit his lip. Seneca probably would like to go see a play. Gilbert hadn't ever done something like that for him.

"H- he did mention something about a play earlier...I forget what it's called, but..."

"Maybe you could casually bring it up to help jog that memory of yours," Marco said playfully. "But you have a whole weekend to do this. If you're going to do the whole cottage thing. Then again, you could go to the cottage for the whole week, whichever you want. But I don't think Seneca can have that much time off on such short notice."

"Mm...you're right. The cottage thing sounds really nice..." Gilbert muttered faintly.

"Pretty awesome..."

Marco nodded, watching Gilbert. "So, how long are you going to stay out of town? I have a cottage on private shore of Wasaga Beach that I hardly ever use. You could use it," he suggested.

Gilbert's head snapped up and his eyes widened, a brilliant grin flashing across his face.

"You'd let me? Us?" He asked.

"It'd only be for the weekend, since as you said, it would be too last minute for him to take an entire week off."

Marco nodded and shrugged casually. "Sure," he replied. "I've no problem with it. You'll have to stop by my apartment though and get the keys. I don't have them with me. What weekend are you planning on doing this on?" he asked.

"As soon as I can get the tickets to that play Seneca wants to see." Gilbert replied, beaming.

"So probably this weekend or the next."

Marco nodded. "Alright, well, drop by whenever and I'll get you the keys," Marco replied. "Are you planning on doing a special dinner? And what is your excuse for going to the cottage"

"...a dinner would be awesome, wouldn't it?" Gilbert mused.

"And what excuse do I need other than it would be really awesome?"

Marco stared at him blankly. "You don't want him to be suspicious," he replied. "Say that you think it'd be good for him to take a break for a day or two. A small vacation on the beach. It'll work a lot better than 'because it's awesome and I said so'," he said.
